Traditional self-storage
From the gate to their unit. Every part connected.
Give customers a clear route through your site, with the right doors, lifts, lighting and alarm areas working together. Keep your team in control.
A customer may pass through shared entrances, floors and corridors before reaching their unit. Bearbox connects those moments, so opening the entrance does not give everyone access to every part of the site.
One visit, through the right spaces
Connect the entrance, lift, corridor and unit around each customer’s visit. Alarm areas on their route temporarily disarm while other areas stay protected. Lighting can follow the route too, and each person has their own access hours.
Enter the building
Their PIN, QR code or phone gives them access to the entrance and areas they can use.
Reach the right floor
Lift access and corridor doors take them towards their unit. Other floors and staff areas stay restricted.
Use their own unit
With BearLock fitted, their own unit unlocks and its alarm disarms. Protection returns when Bearbox ends the visit according to your site’s settings.
Know what happens beyond the entrance
Door contacts report openings and doors left open. PIR sensors detect movement inside and outside units. Read those events alongside customer access to spot activity in the wrong place, including a unit opening without a matching visit. You can add monitoring with or without automatic locks.
Put the right access at each doorway
Put a branded touchscreen keypad at the main entrance, QR Solo readers at internal doors, or let customers open doors from their phone. These methods can work together. Require both a QR code and a PIN for two-factor access, or choose an app-only site with suitable door and gate hardware.

Help the customer without walking the corridors
Your team can see live door status and alarms in Bearbox Portal, check access records and review connected CCTV. Open a door or gate remotely for someone who needs help. Connect alarms to a monitoring station or alarm receiving centre if you want a professional team to investigate alarms.

Build around the site you already run
Connect Bearbox access control to your existing gates and reuse compatible door controls and wiring where practical. Connect rental software to reduce separate access administration, then choose the monitoring and unit locks your site needs.
Questions about traditional self-storage?
Practical answers for planning your site.
Can Bearbox connect to our existing gates?
Yes. Bearbox controls access through your existing gates. We review the access controllers, readers and wiring for compatibility, alongside internal doors, lift controls and alarm coverage.
Do all units need automatic locks?
Unit monitoring and automatic locks are separate choices. Door contacts and PIRs can provide visibility into unit activity, while locks add controlled unit access. We can help you choose where to use each.
What happens if the site loses internet?
Local keypad and reader access can keep working with permissions already held on site. Phone opening, remote management and live updates need connectivity. Consider the entrances customers rely on when planning for an outage.
